What we are focusing on as a movement at this moment. Return to the Ratifier Portal home here.
#1: Strengthening Our Movement
The past month, Generation Ratify has been hosting a series of community circles and brainstorms to identify tensions within our organizing network, as well as create solutions. We have been specifically digging into the relationship between national, state, and local chapters, and how we can improve to build a stronger, more connected movement.
We set out with the intention to create a solid proposal outlining exact next steps for moving forward; however, the reality is that we will always be re-evaluating the resources and structures we have in place. What we are working with now is what we call the "Base Game Plan." This proposal, as it stands, is intentionally ambiguous and vague as to provide agency for our local organizers, as well as room to delve deeper and expand upon specifics. Check it out here!
In the coming months, and years, and forever, we will be working towards to make our movement stronger, more connected, and more equitable. This Base Game Plan is a proposed jumping off point.
At the end of June, we will be hosting a call for all Generation Ratify leaders on the local and state level to give feedback and discuss action moving forward. This call is currently being scheduled. Check back for the time.

#3: Abortion in the Courts
On Tuesday, June 8th, we held a call open to organizers in the GR network to discuss our battle for gender justice in the courts, specifically focusing on abortion. We discussed the case the Supreme Court will hear regarding abortion in October, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
This court case could overturn Roe v. Wade, a key court case preserving abortion across the country. If Roe were overturned, people in 22 states would lose virtually all access to abortion, and in 25 states the majority of people live in a county with no abortion access. The limiting of reproductive rights disproportionately affects BIPOC and economically disadvantaged people. Controlling abortions has always been a way of keep the oppressed oppressed. Particularly in southern states where very few abortion clinics exist at all, these communities will have absolutely no chance to get an abortion.
This is one of the biggest imminent threats to our fight for gender justice. We are exploring a campaign that would launch on Generation Ratify’s second birthday, July 22nd, to stop the Supreme Court from overturning Roe v. Wade and expand laws to protect abortion access for people everywhere in the US. Check out more about this case, our ideas for the campaign, and the opportunity to give your thoughts on what you want to see here.
#4: Weekend of Empowerment
July 10th through July 11th, Generation Ratify will be hosting a Weekend of Empowerment Summit.
This two-day summit in mid-July will be tailored to organizers of color within and outside of Generation Ratify to amplify their activism in an often-unwelcoming space. With topics such as How to Run for Office and How to Write a Personal Narrative, A Weekend of Empowerment will be a safe space created by and for organizers of color.
Check out the sign-up form for it here. Sign-up if you identify as an organizer of color, and everyone spread this opportunity far and wide!
