After months of long, hard work and nearly a hundred years of waiting, we had finally done it. With its new gender-equality sense majority as a result of our grassroots organizing for the 2019 election, Virginia was going to become the 38th and final state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment and make it the newest addition to the US Constitution.
With all eyes on Virginia, we knew that it was of the utmost importance that legislators knew how much was hanging in the balance. So we reminded them of all the effort we had put into this movement and the future generations that would be affected by their decision. We co-organized a rally with over 300 people to welcome in legislators as they came back to session. To top it all off, we shared our Youth for the Ratification of the ERA petition with them, along with signatures of hundreds of youth from all across the country!
On January 27th, Virginia became the 38th and final state needed to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.
